Manageable Intangibles

Ephemeral Moment

Know the flow, when it’s working
In subtle or portended ways
A perfect timing
A sequence of order
That knows best for our request

Never forget we are assisted
Let go of control, get out of the way

Blind reactions without awareness
Won’t see the treadmill
That we are on

Forcing one’s own way
Only delays
The best-case scenario

How can we know
What we’re missing
If we don’t let go
And get out of the way

With selfless request it’s done

When it comes it’s unannounced
When it comes you forgot you asked
When it comes it’s a different place
When it’s done you’re in a different space

Ephemeral moment

How I forgot you so soon
Ephemeral moment
Just getting used to you
Ephemeral moment
Your insight moves me through
Ephemeral moment
Please don’t be leaving so soon

In The Midst Of Your Love

Getting the hang of this understanding thing
Turning corners through the learning curves
Glad when there’s no need to be right
As never will there be a dog here in a fight

Wouldn’t miss a moment like this

Forgive me for being slow to let go of when
Like the strangers that used to be friends
Scratching my head trying to figure it out
And all the while the clouds are clearing now

Wouldn’t miss a moment like this

There’s nothing different I would do
In this moment with you

With this kiss of your love
Is the essence of your kindness
I’m in the midst of your love

I don’t need no guarantees
In a moment like this
I am filled with no need
In your company I’m complete
In the midst of your love

We do what we can ’cause that’s all we can do
Accepting now is the face of what is true
And if old friends go changing on us again
Don’t care if I’m caught holding the bag in the end

The Great Divide

The great divide … over the great divide

Above the Abyss from atop the canyon cliffs
Stones are thrown from both sides
I carry no load as I walk the middle road
In this great divide
Echoes of pandering and panhandling
For our goodwill

Remembering one thing
It takes two wings to make an eagle fly
Over the great divide

Money and greed and the power that leads us to nowhere
Even though it’s one earth, seems like from birth
We’re here on separate planets
Blind to genocide, perpetuated lies
It’s death to defy

The dream of freedom has been hijacked by
Some fundamentalism
Remembering one thing,
It takes two wings to make an eagle fly
Over the great divide

Our gun totin’ rules
Bare for feardom not for freedom
With no education by designed segregation
We the people have become the fools
And for recognition we seek definition
Wearing our tattoos

We must blaze ahead past those numbskull
Neanderthals
With history’s forgery it’s hard to be
We the people are one

In the great divide…
There’s only one, the great divide
In nature’s design
The great divide

Rain-Filled Night

In the rain-filled night
Reminding me that the roof leaks
And what was it then
Where we said it way back when

In the rain-filled night
The silence is disturbed by the floor creak
And what was left unsaid by the door still open

It’s always clear…. when I hear
Thunder …in my ear
Here comes the rain-filled night
I look around all over town
See buckets on the ground
Catching the rain-filled night

With cupped hands facing the sky
Cleansing the blight in our eyes

Lightning brings promising illumination
Here comes the rain-filled night
We control the river’s flow
With diverted intentions
In the rain-filled night

Something simple gets forever lost
Not realizing what is the cost

With wayward wander
We somehow squandered
What it was where we said it …way back when

But if we give back the same
As this night does with rain
This ground will hold the seed as it grows
But if I run from here tonight
Afraid from the bolts of light
No bucket will hold what I won’t let go of

A Milestone For Me

Rather realize it by myself
Knowing what I don’t know
Instead of being hit blind-sighted
Not knowing what I don’t know

Having to hold advantage over adversity
Is something that doesn’t sit too well with me
All the conditions contingent to being happy
Requires too much energy

The impulse for opposition examines no options
When fear’s not free to abandon
No need to say a word if it can’t be heard
Godspeed in your journey

It’s a milestone for me
Getting through where I should never be
It’s a milestone for me
Reaching a level to where I wanna be

Attitude is everything
If it’s with a good outlook in life
Travails and triumphs share the same space
Integrated not separated in love

The give and take is not subject to prior approval
When letting go of holding back
The contrast is connected as it’s reflected
And that’s just a matter of fact

What’s borrowed won’t replace
Today for tomorrow
Making the way seem that much longer to travel

Discovering roadside mileposts
Then you know how far you’ve come
To where you are
Aside from thoughts that move us
Up and down
‘Cause this time you decide to walk…….

Not been (being) taken for a ride
It’s a milestone for me

Living Along The Way

I’ve come to know it’s a privilege to live
Even though everyone’s vision is different

All business and bucks
Will get you stuck on the treadmill

The richest guy in the graveyard
Can’t buy much of anything

All the sweat and debt
To get the eggs in one basket

The question of what do you do
Comes before the one of who are you

Do what needs to be done
Without the crazy attachment

To get all the gadgets we can buy
Has the toll for our life’s time

But when we hear a song we wanna sing along
Living along the way
Remembering those inklings of our true nature
Living along the way

Exploring your passion with contagious enthusiasm
Your selfless interest is a service to us all

Some living conditions make you a victim of survival
When projected happiness
Is contingent on what you do

Common Ground

I wish to dismiss some gospel and myth
In and around the common ground

Freely unbound with a ready stance
Together we can dance on common ground

Common ground… common ground

No more resistance to acceptance
Uniting the dividing distance
Nothing’s lost to what’s been found
It’s always been here on common ground

Each one of us is part of the whole
With a unique and special role

Our worth relates to each other
Which makes us all equal
In this equation of one shoe fits all

There’s enough good to go around
In every situation
Shared experience abounds
Abundance flows from this fountain

We see with clarity
Different stories yet similarity
Finding time to listen without a thought
To someone alone lost but then forgot

It was us who removed ourselves
From the love that
We always…. we’re amazed
To hear about, but could never face the open place

Of common ground

Mostly Misunderstood

It’s ok if you get the wrong idea
I’m unattached to memorabilia
It’s okay if we get our signals crossed
We can always call it a wash

From first impressions
To misconceptions
A mix-up of mistakes
From heartaches to handshakes

I know I’m mostly misunderstood
Maybe it’s ’cause we’re not from the same neighborhood
You remember me as an afterthought
Your social circles have nothing I want

It’s okay by me
You see me as the black sheep
I’m not your priority
And I won’t lose any sleep

Years of accepting what’s not real
Years of rejecting what I feel

Done wondering is the day we see
It’s what we choose to believe
Knowing this sets us free

It’s ok if you don’t get me
Accepting the fact negates the need

If you take off please don’t leave the key
The possibility will always be with me

I know I’m mostly misunderstood

A Mystery To Me

In the confines of trying to make sense
The only thing that matters
Is here with you in the present tense
Assumptions serve notions of no real purpose
Our hardened positions will sink like stones in the ocean

Never mind trying to nail it down
As soon as you do it moves back around
No black or white that’s absolute here
The epitome being a mystery to me

In the abstract of understanding
Don’t be caught standing under what might be selling
Just to get by for the day of convincing ourselves
Loosely given out kudos is with ambivalence

When you tell me all those things
That make good sense to you
You won’t mind when I don’t say a thing
Knowing my refrain makes good sense too

An eye-opening experience seeing it now from a distance
The feeling of no longer connected
Now pausing with reflection open to a new direction

Some say it’s with our fortitude that we make
Each step along our way
While others state the case that it’s still better yet
Just to sit and let it gravitate

What are you waiting for? guessing at more suggestions
That leave you flat footed
Wanting what you don’t have

Looking at this from all angles
surely won’t miss any second chance miracles
what was unreal is now believable
with no boundaries to the rational

It’s Really Real

One step forward then two steps back
We circle around skirting the facts

With softened glares the patterns proceed
With one step forward
Two steps back in retreat

The false facades between you and me
Calculating so carefully

The measured distance creates resistance
The once long-winded caution
Now dances free

We break down ’cause we may have found
Something to share as we become aware

It’s really real when old thinking comes undone
It’s really real there’s nothing to back away from
It’s really real when no more need to hang on
It’s really real where the love comes from
It’s really real

There’s no end to this new beginning
With just a moment’s glimpse we keep believing

Softened glares the patterns proceed
With the one step forward
Our feet come back to meet

We break down as the sound surrounds
What seems so unreal
Is that the two of us have endeared

Where We Last Left Off

Estranged by time in the absence of your presence
And the familiar sound of hearing your soul breathing
Now remembering

Warmth from the fire of your feeling
With the sight of you the lighted sky
Is forever yielding

Why then we went our own ways?

Is still the question why different directions
Not knowing where those ways would go
And we lost touch at the bend of the road

And now it all comes down to this

Where we last left off, when we last left off
Where were we?

When there was time to pause
And listen to each other’s cause

Now finding fragments from that time long forgotten
In this unfamiliar place, far from that dauntless age

Of what we felt back then

No opposition came tattered from the rush
Of clutching to something gone
Wondering if it was wrong

As we watched it go away

Like one summer’s day floating aimlessly
Without a need for any oars
No reason to go towards shore

We were content without more

Where we last left off, when we last left off
Where were we?

When there was time to pause and listen to any cause
Timelessly floating in awe
