The Age of Reason

If we see only what we can understand
What then warrants changing any plans?
While appreciating what directs us to the fact
That’s beyond limited belief of where it’s at

What comes around face to face with plausibility
Is The Age of Reason…
With one last look before it gets all lost tossed
The intrepid question
Is seen as empty

When we’re locked into
A certain aphorism
Burning is the bridge
Of a certain return
To the pleasure of conversation
Expressing neutral truism

The turbulent high seas of ideas
At the forefront of the frontier
Land ashore in the familiar unknown
Being The Age of Reason…

Giving thanks the least being
Seems more deciphering
Leading to The Age of Reason…

Reckoning with the impulse of feelings
Thoughts rethinking
Is The Age of Reason…

The axiom shifting
The pendulum swing
Notwithstanding The Age  of  Reason…

When truth has been faulted to being fooled once
The knowledge of which can be used from being fooled twice
Is found in the Age of Reason…

I think of you

While time stands still
Every day, as always
In the comfort of knowing you

No plan to meander course
We’re a river rolling along
Nothing could be wrong

When I think of you
I get goose bumps with gratitude
There’s nothing more that I can do

When I think of you
The earth shifts from its axis
And there’s nothing more that I can do

When I think of you
It never takes me getting used to
The truth of the matter that’s so absolute

When I think of you
There’s no place between those thoughts
To bring anything more

To what I can do
I think of you as a smile can muse

If there ever came the day
Without the thought of you
It would be the day
That came too soon

I’m without regret
Don’t need to remember
Don’t need a reminder
To never forget to
Think of you

I think of you

Before this day is done

Before this day is done there will be at least one
Chance to get it right
Before this day is done if I’m good with it
Then some awareness comes

Before this day is done
What takes precedence presents itself
Before this day is done
The shifting momentum comes back around again

What has begun with good intentions
Sometimes gets lost in a labyrinth
Meanwhile the ripple effect from the point of origin
Undulates alone in all directions

Before this day is done
We meet with the terms of continuation
We can choose what to do
In this paradigm of love’s magnitude
Before this day is done

The water’s smooth surface is soon shattered
The once calm is now displaced
By the restless breeze from the speed of our thoughts
Bringing a ruffling to the peace

Before this day is done
We meet with the terms of continuation
We can choose what to do
In this paradigm of loves’ magnitude
Before this day is done

Mister Bluester

Hey there, Mister Bluester
The toll road has you broken down
But just around the corner is the lost and found

Life is more than nothing to lose
Yet the choice is still yours
Yes it is, Mister Bluester

It’s hard to see good when it’s buried
Like a seed germinating
With a meaning for being

‘Cause I know that
Sharing in this journey
Hey there, Mister Bluester,

Mister Bluester, it’s the same air we breathe
Mister Bluester, help is here in times of need
Mister Bluester, yield to new ideas
Mister Bluester, go past the thoughts you listen to

The search for higher ground frees the wings of our feet

It’s true, hey there, Mister Bluester

When we let go of our own shadow
The dawn has horizons unfold
Hey there, Mister Bluester

And with each new day, we make our way
In how we want it to be
Connecting our diversity with unity

That is where I need to go

Suddenly, I stop in my tracks
I look back and I notice

That all this time I have hardly been
In this moment

But then again, I was so taken
By each moment

In the deluge of thoughts and actions
That I lost sight of the greater picture

I moved through life like a freight train
What have I done?
What have I not done?

So much and then again so little
Is this really the path I want to be on?

I pull the emergency brake…. Stop!
I need to find my place

Right now, right here
Before I’m swept away again

By the wave of circumstances
Around me
Yes, I see
Myself far in the distance

Standing, holding
My rope of light
Connecting to all that is
That is where I need to go

Back When We Were Friends

Friend is just another word
when it’s used too loosely
and it loses meaning
’cause it can’t find its way
back to the feeling

Back when were friends

We were smart enough to know what not to do
but dumb enough to let it happen again
and passion did not envision
a circumstance we could never defend

So, we roll along in our own time line
forgetting where we stood
together there at every turn
joined by lessons learned

The dreams between the frolicking
were met with an open exchange
of equal value never with words that were meant to hurt

Back when we were friends
the world could never ever end
and that worked for me
as it did equally work for you then
Back when we were friends

We were on the same page
we sat around at the same table
always ready, willing and able
to spend our time content
not from some unkind regret

Come to Uncover

I’ve come to uncover
Under layers undiscovered
Simple as something none other
What should be equal inherit sharing

As the greed reaps from the good bearing
Are the names of things we believe
For the need of laws justifying
Come with more flaws to intervene
With our own take of the way things should be

As each one of us has the right
To share in this abundance
No one is right to fight for dominance
Languished is the soul’s insight

The trouble lies in our ignorance
While hacking at the truth
There’s enough for all of us to give and let live
Without all the self-proclaimed issues

I’ve come to uncover our unwritten moral code
It’s not to prey on each other
It’s a win win, when we get the weak on their feet

In those times of feeling depleted
Is when love from another comes greeting
What’s limitless and unbounded
Is free to come back where it’s founded
Know what goes out comes back compounded

Humanity is one big family
Doing what we can to contribute
We can offer what solutions may bring
All it’s gotta do is with your attitude

With a new awareness we recognize this
And become more selfless
Coming to grips with the fear of danger
We are blessed with no stress

I’ve come to uncover the woes of the status quo
What we say is the law of the land
Is the law made by our own hands
What’s been given and taken from us
Is by our own rules made up as we go along
I’ve come to uncover what’s not necessarily so
To what’s commonly known
As I come to uncover

As Long As I Last

Don’t know what I will be missing
If I don’t go for it as long as I last
Don’t want to fall short and be quitting
So, I’ll go for it as long as I last
Eventually becomes a reality
If I hang around long enough
When there’s a committing to the finishing
You will find out what you’re made of

Don’t want to be regretting something I did not do
Lay aside all the betting on an excuse ‘cause it’s not true

Not caught up in the woulda, coulda, should have
The blame game won’t replace a thing
The weight you carry on your shoulders
Won’t become lighter when you bend
As dad always used to say,
“if there’s a will then there’s a way.”
Who cares how long it takes
If you’re in it for the long haul’s sake

Ain’t gonna be tossing in no towel
I’ll go for it as long as I last
The wisdom of the wise old owl
Sees through darkness from the shadows’ cast

The good news that’s always been here is without a doubt
The knowing is yours this time around, don’t throw it all out
What you can imagine is now here to happen
When you see this as good as done
Proceeding now brings what is bound
To you more than once

Pick yourself up off the ground
Get back up on that big tall horse
You don’t have to be so damn proud
There’s no victim here for crying out loud

All we have here is an illusion of time
More often than not is with no reason or rhyme
Right and wrong is for the subjective mind
Just keep your toes right on the line

What Becomes the Need

What’s written down in history’s books is not so different now if you look
We seem entangled with some destiny, an age-old density embedded in our psyche
I’m not saying I’m a soothsayer of some benevolent wisdom that’s for sure
We’re up against age old mythology hardwired in our DNA’s odyssey

Old ingrained patterns will keep following (*doggin’) me
With no stones unturned there’s no lessons learned
Diverting rivers is still a paradox to me
Recognizing what becomes the need

Time-worn faces wearing wrinkle lines
Like the torn-out pages from our history’s crimes
Trying to make sense from all of this
From some pieced-out scrapbook of an artifact

Am I reading or dreaming this right
Maybe it’s all just determined by fight or flight
I might have just fallen off the turnip truck but what’s true about me and you
Is more than some real good luck

The earth’s nature has evolved over time with many changes
But when it comes down to getting the cave thing solved
It seems like we’re still back in the stone ages
Oh, what becomes the need

The records of humanity read like a recurring theme
The hunter-gatherer still stores food away
Even though he’s slamming down three squares a day

I believe in a theory or two
Something about the relativity of me and you
Rather see ourselves basking in laughter
With no agendas to get after

Retracing footsteps any fool can do
Like reciting what we learned in school
I’d rather see ourselves relaxing in love
Recognizing what becomes the need

‘Cause I Found It

Don't know what it is for sure
But as the long list narrows down
To this one thing nothing more
Then how can I deny what it is I can't describe?
I carry on till the day comes my way
In the meantime, I’m busy doing other things
Like stocking up on just what I don't need
Assuring no chance of any second guessing
It's never too old when the coffee gets cold
As no woes will have me stay in the same place of no way
While checks and balances twine the mind astray
Adding up to more minus the time of day
In a time of need
For some compromising
It's not wrong to ask
The iconoclast
Yes, I know I am alive
‘Cause I found it
Now there's no matter of why
That will let (*make) me quit
And I know just what it is ‘cause I found it
Yes, I know just what it is
‘Cause I found it
Before I didn’t know for sure
As the once long list narrowed down
To this one thing nothing more
That has no words to describe or imply otherwise
